UditVani, Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur emerged as a dominant force in Jharkhand’s cue sports arena as the Jharkhand State Billiards & Snooker Association (JSBSA) successfully concluded its annual State Ranking Billiards and Snooker Tournament at The United Club, on Saturday.
Held from May 12 to May 24, the prestigious championship witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 80 players representing Jamshedpur, Ranchi, and Hazaribagh, showcasing the growing popularity and competitive spirit surrounding the sport in the state.
A major highlight of this year’s tournament was the introduction of women’s events for the first time, including Billiards, Snooker, and 6 Reds Snooker, marking a significant step forward in promoting inclusivity and expanding the sport’s reach in Jharkhand.
In the Boys (Under-21) Snooker category, Aayush Kumar of Ranchi clinched the top position, followed by Arsh Kumar (Ranchi), while Yashwant Rao (Jamshedpur) and Samit Kashliwal (Hazaribagh) secured third and fourth places respectively.
Jamshedpur’s Susma Khanal emerged as the undisputed star of the women’s division, sweeping all three titles—Women’s Billiards, Women’s Snooker, and Women’s 6 Reds Snooker.
Pratima Kumari, also from Jamshedpur, finished runner-up in each category, underlining the city’s strength in women’s cue sports.
In the Men’s Billiards event, Anish Parikh of Jamshedpur claimed the championship title, followed by Aman Kumar (Jamshedpur), Snehanshu Saha (Hazaribagh), and Sumit Agarwal (Jamshedpur).
The Men’s Snooker title went to Snehanshu Saha of Hazaribagh, while Anish Parikh (Jamshedpur) finished second.
Palwinder Singh (Jamshedpur) and Kashish Chandra Ravi (Hazaribagh) secured the third and fourth spots respectively. In the Men’s 6 Reds Snooker category, Anish Parikh added another feather to his cap by securing the top spot, followed by Snehanshu Saha, Sushant Sinha (Jamshedpur), and Aman Kumar (Jamshedpur).
Congratulating the winners, the JSBSA extended its best wishes to the selected players who will now represent Jharkhand at the upcoming National Billiards and Snooker Championships in Karnataka, expressing confidence that they will make the state proud on the national stage.
