UditVani, Jamshedpur : On the occasion of World Earth Day in April 22 , the B.P.Ed Faculty of Education at Jamshedpur Women’s University, Bistupur Campus, organized a meaningful plantation drive within the university premises, reflecting a strong commitment to environmental sustainability.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ila Kumar.
Students from the first and third semesters of the B.P.Ed course actively participated by bringing and planting a variety of fruit-bearing and shade-giving saplings across the campus.
The plantation drive witnessed the presence and participation of several senior university officials, including DSW Kishwar Ara, Proctor Sudhir Kumar Sahu, Dean of Commerce Deepa Sharan, IQAC Director Ratna Mitra, Chairman of Sports and Culture Sanatan Deep, Faculty Coordinator Kamini Kumari, NSS Coordinator Gloria Purti, Head of Department Sajit Kumar Mahato, along with faculty members Gopal Chakraborty, Hemant Kumar, Saurabh Mandal, and staff member Raj Kumar Kunkal.
Adding an innovative dimension to the initiative, students digitized plant-related information by converting it into QR codes, enabling easy access to details about each sapling.
Demonstrating environmental responsibility and creativity, the B.P.Ed students also crafted bird nests using discarded plastic materials.
These were installed on various trees across the campus, along with provisions for water and grains, creating a supportive habitat for birds.
The initiative not only highlighted environmental awareness but also promoted sustainable practices and ecological responsibility among students.
