UditVani, January: Jharkhand welcomed the early days of January with calm and comfortable winter weather, as sunshine dominated the daytime while mornings remained pleasantly chilly, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi, said in its latest realised weather report.
Temperatures across the state stayed largely above normal during the day, signalling a mild winter phase. Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 24.2°C, slightly higher than the seasonal average, while the minimum dipped to 9.4°C.
In Jamshedpur, the mercury climbed to 26.4°C during the day, with the night temperature settling at 11.6°C.
Several districts experienced relatively warmer afternoons. Chaibasa touched 27.0°C, while Daltonganj recorded a high of 26.4°C. Bokaro Thermal remained on the cooler side with a maximum of 24.5°C.
Weather conditions stayed dry across Jharkhand, with no rainfall reported in the last 24 hours.
The highest maximum temperature in the state was logged at Baharagora AWS in East Singhbhum at 27.2°C, whereas Gumla AWS emerged as the coldest location, recording a minimum temperature of 6.4°C.
Early morning fog reduced visibility at a few places, with Deoghar airport reporting visibility as low as 600 metres, while Jamshedpur also experienced brief foggy conditions.
Despite the chill, the IMD confirmed that no cold wave conditions prevailed anywhere in the state.
Automated Weather Station data indicated stable winter trends across districts including Hazaribagh, Koderma, Khunti, Latehar, Pakur and Saraikela, where day temperatures hovered between 23°C and 27°C, and night temperatures remained within normal winter limits.
Meteorologists attribute the prevailing conditions to a stable weather pattern, offering residents a pleasant blend of sunny days and cool nights—a reassuring start to the New Year in Jharkhand.
