UditVani, Jamshedpur : Looking ahead to a decisive phase of the league, Owen Coyle has urged Jamshedpur FC to build on their momentum and maintain focus in the upcoming fixtures.
“There is a lot to play for. We have to recover quickly and get ready for the next game. If we keep delivering performances like that, we will win games for sure,” he said after the emphatic win against Chennaiyin FC.
Coyle was full of praise for his side’s commanding 4-1 victory, calling it one of their most complete performances of the season. “From start to finish it was an outstanding performance. Even in that little run we were far better than the points we picked up.
Today was about coming back home and showing what we are about,” he remarked.
The head coach credited his tactical adjustments for the turnaround, including deploying Lazar Cirkovic in central defence and introducing fresh faces into the starting XI.
The changes proved effective, with several players delivering standout performances. “Maddy coming in was a huge boost because of his quality. I thought Rosenberg was outstanding. A young player with real talent, and I was so pleased with his display,” Coyle said.
He also highlighted the attacking impact of Messi Bouli and Mohammed Sanan, both of whom played key roles in the victory. “I am delighted for Messi Bouli to get his goal. He works so hard. Sanan could have had four or five goals over recent games, and today he gets his reward,” he added.
Despite the dominant scoreline, Coyle pointed out areas that need tightening, particularly in defence. “I am disappointed with the goal we lost, not because of the finish, it was outstanding, but because we had three chances to clear it in the build-up. Those are the little things we have to improve,” he explained.
With the league standings finely poised, Coyle stressed the importance of consistency going forward.
“It was nice not only to win but to win with style and quality. The league is very tight, so we just have to keep winning games, one at a time, and see where it takes us,” he said.
Jamshedpur will next face FC Goa on May 1 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex. Tickets are available on the District by Zomato app.
