UditVani, Jamshedpur : In a significant move aimed at strengthening the industrial ecosystem of the Kolhan region, a delegation of the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) called on Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority (JIADA) Managing Director Varun Ranjan, at his Ranchi office to raise critical concerns relating to infrastructure, governance and policy bottlenecks in the Adityapur Industrial Area and the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster.
The delegation was led by SCCI President Manav Kedia and comprised General Secretary Puneet Kauntia, Vice-President (Industry) Harsh Bakhrewal, Vice-President (Tax & Finance) Rajeev Agarwal and Industry Secretary Vinod Sharma.
The trade outfit submitted a comprehensive memorandum, supplemented with photographs and video documentation, detailing the operational and structural challenges confronting industries and MSMEs in the region.
Prominent among the issues highlighted were the severely deteriorated internal roads and the lack of restoration work following pipeline and cable-laying activities.
The delegation pointed to an inefficient and clogged drainage network causing recurring waterlogging, leading to damage of machinery and raw materials.
Non-functional streetlights, unchecked vegetation growth and inadequate maintenance were also cited as serious concerns affecting safety and productivity.
Security challenges, particularly in the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster, were discussed at length, with the Chamber demanding increased police patrolling, installation of CCTV cameras and robust security mechanisms to curb rising theft incidents.
The delegation also raised objections to the collection of holding tax by the Adityapur Municipal Corporation despite industries paying lease rent to JIADA.
On the administrative front, SCCI underscored the practical difficulties faced by long-established industries in producing Date of Production (DoP) records and urged the withdrawal of processing fees for minor amendments and documentation updates.
Looking ahead, the Chamber proposed a series of strategic measures to boost industrial growth, including the development of a dedicated heavy vehicle parking zone, effective operationalisation of the single-window clearance system, optimal utilisation of vacant land in the Electronic Cluster and activation of the Jharkhand State Mineral Development Corporation.
It further advocated for the establishment of a new industrial park near Jamshedpur, rationalisation of land rates, provision of affordable and competitive power supply, creation of an MSME Facilitation Centre in Jamshedpur and focused efforts to attract mega industries to strengthen ancillary networks.
Assuring proactive intervention, the JIADA Managing Director stated that road repair works would begin from mid-April, while immediate instructions had been issued to the Regional Director for de-silting and cleaning of the drainage system. Other matters, he said, would be taken up on priority in coordination with the concerned departments.
The SCCI delegation welcomed the positive and solution-oriented response of the JIADA leadership and expressed optimism that timely implementation of the proposed measures would enhance infrastructure standards and significantly improve the ease of doing business in the Adityapur Industrial Area.
Reiterating its commitment, the Chamber affirmed its readiness to work closely with the state government and JIADA to accelerate industrial development and empower MSMEs across the region.
