UditVani, Jamshedpur: In a heartwarming confluence of memories and aspirations, the Students’ Debate Society (SDS), Jamshedpur, hosted its first-ever alumni reunion on Sunday at the Sakchi Buddhist Temple auditorium.
The gathering brought together former members who have gone on to shape careers across government services, banking, and leading corporate houses.
Founded in 1987 by a group of competitive exam aspirants in Laxminagar, the Society has, over the past 39 years, emerged as a nurturing ground for thousands of students. Its footprint gradually expanded to areas such as Makhdumpur, Harharguttu, Baridih, Sakchi, and Bistupur, helping aspirants secure positions in both public and private sectors.
Speaking at the event, coordinator Shriman Narayan Trigun highlighted the institution’s enduring legacy and emphasized the need to modernize its framework to inspire the next generation. Alumni echoed similar sentiments, pledging collective efforts to strengthen and expand the Society’s reach.
The reunion witnessed the presence of several distinguished guests, including Jusco Workers’ Union President Raghunath Pandey and Laxminagar Basti Vikas Samiti Secretary Narendra Kumar.
Several accomplished alumni shared their journeys and experiences, including Kalicharan (JPSC), Purushottam Trivedi (BPSC), Sudhir Kumar (SBI), Narayan Kumar (Tata Motors), Sunil Sinha (Indian Bank), and innovative government school teacher Arvind Tiwari. Their reflections underscored the Society’s role in shaping careers and instilling confidence. A special felicitation ceremony was held to honour individuals who have significantly contributed to the Society’s growth.
The event began with floral tributes to Maa Saraswati and Swami Vivekananda, followed by a two-minute silence for world peace. The gathering also resonated with a soulful collective rendition of “Itni Shakti Hamein Dena Data”, led by Ramashankar Singh, adding a spiritual touch to the occasion.
The programme was skillfully conducted by advocate Pramod Singh Bundela, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Shriman Narayan. Around 40 members attended the memorable reunion, marking the beginning of a renewed journey for the Students’ Debate Society.
