UditVani, Jamshedpur: Train services in the Tatanagar section were disrupted on Monday after a crucial railway signalling cable was found damaged near the Jugsalai overbridge, triggering a failure of the signalling system and track circuit in the area.
Railway officials said the severed cable caused blank signals on the affected stretch, forcing authorities to halt the movement of several trains as a safety precaution.
The disruption led to delays of multiple express and passenger services, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded at Tatanagar and nearby stations for hours.
Teams from the Signal and Telecommunications department were rushed to the site and began repair work immediately.
Preliminary inputs suggest the cable may have been damaged during nearby construction or maintenance activity. Officials said the damaged line is being spliced and normal operations are expected to resume by the afternoon.
Passengers have been advised to check train updates before travelling, as restoration work continued later in the day.
