UditVani, Jamshedpur : Security was tightened at Tatanagar Railway Station after Chakradharpur Rail Division Senior Commandant P. Kutty received confidential information about possible illegal activities. Acting on the instructions, RPF Post Tatanagar in-charge Rakesh Mohan monitored the station closely, leading to a significant seizure on Sunday.
During an intensified checking drive, the RPF flying squad—led by officer Balbir Prasad—inspected passengers across platforms and the station premises. In the course of the operation, they detained a youth carrying a suspicious bag. A search revealed 40 bottles of Iconic White foreign liquor concealed inside.
The youth, identified as Adarsh Kumar, was reportedly attempting to transport the liquor to Bihar. He failed to provide any satisfactory explanation during questioning.
Following preliminary interrogation, the RPF handed him over to the Excise Department, Jamshedpur, along with the seized liquor, for further action.
Officials noted that liquor smuggling attempts to Bihar often rise during festive seasons, prompting the continuation of strict checking drives at railway stations. They emphasized that security protocols will be enforced without any relaxation.
