UditVani, Jamshedpur : Procam International, promoters of the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata (TSW 25K), has announced Double Olympic silver medallist and World Championships gold and silver medallist Kenny Bednarek as the International Event Ambassador for the landmark 10th edition of the event, scheduled for Sunday, 21st December 2025. The world’s first World Athletics Gold Label 25K race continues to bring communities together through sport, celebrating resilience, inclusivity, and the unyielding human spirit.
At just 27, Kenny Bednarek — fondly called Kung Fu Kenny — stands among track and field’s most admired sprinters. A two-time Olympic silver medallist in the 200m at both Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, and a gold and silver medallist at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, Bednarek has cemented his reputation as one of the sport’s most consistent performers. In a discipline defined by speed and brilliance, his story exemplifies how perseverance, more than perfection, shapes true greatness.
Born in Wisconsin, Bednarek’s early life was filled with challenges. Abandoned at birth and later adopted, he overcame hardship through resilience and purpose. His inspiring rise—from community college tracks to the world’s biggest arenas—underscores that success is shaped not by one’s beginnings but by the determination to keep pushing forward.
“Life has taught me that the journey matters more than the destination. Every race, every step, builds you,” Bednarek said ahead of his visit to Kolkata. “I’m excited to be part of the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata’s 10th year. The city’s passion for sport and the event’s focus on community and health resonate with my own story. I look forward to encouraging Kolkata’s spirited participants and celebrating their drive.”
Representing the United States at the highest level, Bednarek boasts personal bests that rank among the finest in sprinting history: 9.79s (100m, 2025), 19.57s (200m, 2024), and 44.73s (400m, 2019).
