UditVani, Jamshedpur: The Ghatshila Assembly constituency has officially entered the silence period ahead of the crucial by-election scheduled for tomorrow, November 11, with voting set to begin at 7 AM.
As mandated by the Election Commission of India (ECI), all public campaigning, including loudspeaker announcements, rallies, processions, and roadshows, has been banned for 48 hours leading up to polling.
Election authorities have reiterated that any use of microphones or public canvassing during this period will attract immediate legal action.
Multiple flying squads, static surveillance teams, and micro-observers have been deployed across the constituency to enforce the Model Code of Conduct.
This by-election holds special significance as 13 candidates are contesting from this Scheduled Tribe (ST)-reserved seat.
A strong fight is expected between JMM ( Somesh Soren ) and BJP ( Babulal Soren ) . JLKM ( Ramdas Murmu ) also stands a good chance of getting good number of votes.
Over the past weeks, the region has witnessed intensive campaigning by major political parties, each attempting to consolidate tribal votes and influence undecided voters. With campaigning now halted, the focus shifts entirely to ensuring a peaceful and transparent voting process.
District officials confirmed that all EVMs and VVPATs have been checked, sealed, and dispatched along with polling teams to their respective booths. Security has been tightened at inter-state borders, vulnerable hamlets, and around critical polling stations with the deployment of additional police forces and Quick Response Teams.
The administration has also strengthened digital surveillance to curb last-minute violations through social media, mass messaging, or covert voter inducements. Citizens have been encouraged to report any suspicious activity through the cVIGIL app or the district control room for swift action.
The Ghatshila by-poll is being closely watched due to its potential impact on regional political equations.
Officials expect a healthy voter turnout and have appealed to residents to participate responsibly in the democratic process.
With 13 contestants in the fray and the campaign dust settling, the final decision now rests with the voters who will cast their ballots starting tomorrow morning.
