UditVani, Jamshedpur: Nitish Kumar Bhakat, a PhD scholar from National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, has been felicitated with the prestigious NPTEL Star Award for his outstanding performance in online courses conducted under the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL).
The felicitation ceremony was held on March 8 at City Centre in Kolkata and was organised by Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, the Eastern Zone coordinator for NPTEL.
The programme was inaugurated by Suman Chakraborty, Director of IIT Kharagpur.
The event witnessed the presence of several eminent academicians, including Janakiraman from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, along with professors from various IITs and representatives from the education sector across the country.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Chakraborty congratulated the NPTEL Star Award winners and emphasized the increasing importance of online education.
He highlighted how courses offered by IIT faculty through NPTEL are helping learners across the country gain advanced knowledge and develop new skills.
Nitish Kumar Bhakat is currently pursuing his PhD in Electronics and Communication Engineering at NIT Jamshedpur and is also working as a Researcher (PAT-II) at CSIR–National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur.
Congratulating him on this national-level recognition, Goutam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur, lauded his achievement.
His PhD supervisors, Jayendra Kumar of NIT Jamshedpur and T. K. Das of CSIR-NML, also congratulated him for the accomplishment.
Nitish’s father, S. K. Bhakat, a resident of Gopalpur, expressed immense happiness and pride over his son’s success.
The achievement has brought pride to both his family and the institutions associated with him, highlighting the growing academic excellence emerging from Jamshedpur.
Nitish credited much of his success to the guidance and mentorship of his PhD supervisor Dr. Jayendra Kumar, whose encouragement played a key role in motivating him to pursue advanced learning and research.
