UditVani, Jamshedpur: In a significant move to accelerate industrial growth, a delegation from the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) held a high-level meeting with officials of GAIL Gas Limited at its Gamharia office, focusing on strengthening industrial gas supply, expanding PNG connectivity, and addressing key infrastructure challenges.
Representing GAIL Gas Limited were DGM Anshuman Tigga, Industrial Operations Manager Rahul, and Ashutosh, while the SCCI delegation was led by President Manav Kedia, Industry Vice President Harsh Bakrewal, and Secretary Vinod Sharma.
The discussions revolved around enhancing the reach and efficiency of the gas distribution network across the Adityapur industrial region.
Company officials informed that pipeline infrastructure has already been laid across key phases—II, IV, VI, and VII—as well as parts of the large sector and areas behind the auto cluster.
In regions where the network is in place, new PNG connections are being delivered within two to three months. Expansion into uncovered areas, they noted, is being driven by demand from industries and is progressing in line with regulatory norms and land availability.
Technical deliberations also highlighted operational challenges, particularly the need for burner modifications and higher pressure requirements for cutting and fabrication processes.
While PNG pipelines typically operate at around 3 bar pressure, certain industrial applications require up to 15 bar.
GAIL officials stated that several units have already been successfully connected, with 15–20 new applications currently under process.
Amid evolving global uncertainties impacting energy supply chains, both sides emphasized the critical need for a resilient and locally anchored gas infrastructure.
SCCI President Manav Kedia underscored that reliable and cost-effective energy access is fundamental to sustaining industrial productivity and competitiveness, urging the company to expedite network expansion and innovate technical solutions for wider PNG adoption.
The meeting concluded with a strong call for faster implementation and closer collaboration, aiming to ensure that a larger number of industries benefit from a stable and efficient gas supply ecosystem.
