
UditVani, Jamshedpur : The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), Jamshedpur Chapter, organized an engaging interactive session with students of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (MME), NIT Jamshedpur, on November 11.
The event, held at NIT Jamshedpur, served as a vibrant platform for students to interact with leading experts from academia, research, and industry.
The session was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director, CSIR-NML Jamshedpur; Gautam Sutradhar, Director, NIT Jamshedpur; Chaitanya Bhanu, Vice President, Tata Steel Ltd.; Atanu Ranjan Pal, Chairman, IIM Jamshedpur Chapter; and Prof. Ashok Kumar, Head, MME Department.

Over 200 participants, comprising students, faculty members, and professionals, attended the event.
Eminent experts such as Dr. Soumitra Tarafder, Dr. V. C. Srivastava, Dr. Himanshu Mishra, and Dr. T. K. Roy also participated in the interactive dialogue.
Dr. Atanu Ranjan Pal highlighted the wide scope and benefits of the IIM platform, encouraging students to share their ideas on career prospects, startups, and innovations to shape the future of metallurgical science.
The keynote speakers—Dr. Ghosh Chowdhury, Dr. Sutradhar, and Bhanu—motivated students with insights into the evolving role of metallurgists and material scientists across various engineering sectors.
They emphasized the importance of leveraging IIM as a network for professional growth through participation in industry-academia collaborations, innovative workshops, and skill development initiatives.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Gopi Kishor Mandal, Secretary, IIM Jamshedpur Chapter, and Chief Scientist, CSIR-NML Jamshedpur, marking the end of a highly enriching and inspiring session for budding metallurgists.
