
UditVani, Jamshedpur : A five-day residential leadership and capacity-building programme for Block Heads and Deputy Block Heads from across Jharkhand concluded on Tuesday at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi.
Organized under the National Gram Swaraj Abhiyan and guided by the Directorate of Panchayati Raj, the programme aimed to strengthen grassroots governance and promote sustainable rural development.
A total of 46 Block Leaders from 11 districts participated in the intensive training, which equipped them with practical insights into leadership, administration, digital governance, and community-driven development strategies.
The valedictory session was graced by Saloni Singh Pahwa, Specialist – Water, Sanitation & Nutrition, and Saurav Bag, State Program Manager, State Panchayat Resource Centre, Directorate of Panchayati Raj, as Chief Guests.
Addressing the participants, Pahwa emphasized the State Government’s vision to transform every Panchayat into a Model Panchayat.
She urged the participants to apply their learnings from IIM Ranchi to promote participatory, inclusive, and accountable governance at the village level.
Prof. Amit Sachan, Dean (Executive Education & Consultancy), interacted with the participants and collected feedback, noting their enthusiasm and appreciation for the programme’s practical and technology-driven approach.
Highlighting the key takeaways, Programme Director Prof. Shweta Jha said the training covered areas such as innovative problem-solving, digital resource management, Panchayat infrastructure utilization, rural health, nutrition, sanitation, and employment generation. Prof. Satyam, Programme Director, delivered the vote of thanks, commending the participants’ active engagement and urging them to act as catalysts for grassroots change.
The programme concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony for all participants. Conducted from October 10 to 14, the training reaffirmed IIM Ranchi’s commitment to empowering local governance through education, experience, and leadership development.
