
UditVani, Jamshedpur : The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert predicting thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rainfall in various parts of Jharkhand over the next three days.
Forecast
August 17: Thunderstorms and lightning, accompanied by gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph, are likely to occur at isolated places across the state.
August 18: Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated locations, particularly in the southern districts of Jharkhand.
August 19: Thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are again likely to affect isolated areas.
The weather department has urged residents to remain cautious during thunderstorms and heavy showers, and advised avoiding shelter under trees or in open fields during lightning activity.
Official rainfall statistics indicate that Jharkhand has recorded 872.8 mm of rainfall between June 1 and August 14, against the normal 650.2 mm, registering a surplus of 34 per cent this monsoon season.
Cloud cover was witnessed in several districts today.
The sun played hide and seek with clouds. Several districts also witnessed gentle breeze since early morning today.
