Uditvani Jamshedpur : In an effort to improve traffic management in Adityapur, the JDF (Jharkhand Development Foundation) group has installed traffic signals in key areas.
However, due to administrative apathy and the public’s negligence in following rules, these signals have exposed serious gaps in the current system.
Despite the signals being operational for over a month, compliance has been poor. Vehicles continue to jump red lights, creating chaos. According to local sources, the traffic signals were installed at two major intersections — near the Post Office and the Town Office. While they were meant to streamline vehicular movement, the lack of strict enforcement has made the initiative less effective.
Speaking on the issue, SP Mukesh Lunawat said, “We are aware of the situation and will soon launch a campaign to educate the public and ensure rule enforcement. The initiative by the JDF group is commendable, and we are planning further improvements with community cooperation.”
The JDF group spokesperson mentioned that their aim was to provide better infrastructure in collaboration with local authorities, but implementation has faced hurdles due to the absence of dedicated monitoring personnel.
Local Response: Residents have praised the intent behind the project but stressed the need for strict enforcement. Some of the main suggestions from the community include:
* Deployment of traffic police at intersections
* Installation of CCTV cameras
* Public awareness campaigns
Administrative Response: An official stated, “We are aware that signals alone are not enough. Human supervision and public discipline are equally important. We are considering setting up traffic booths and regular patrolling.”
Conclusion: While the installation of traffic signals in Adityapur is a step in the right direction, sustained efforts involving administration, law enforcement, and public cooperation are essential to bring about real change in traffic management.
