
Jamshedpur: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated locations across Jharkhand over the next two days, as the southwest monsoon continues its steady advance across the country.
According to the latest IMD bulletin, thunderstorm and lightning activity is likely on June 3 in the northeastern parts of the state, while similar conditions are expected on June 4 over the northern and adjoining central regions of Jharkhand.
Monsoon Progress and Weather Patterns
The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) is steadily progressing and currently extends through: 17.0°N/55°E, 17.5°N/60°E, 18°N/65°E, 18.5°N/70°E, Mumbai, Ahilyanagar, Adilabad, Bhawanipatna, Puri, Sandhead Island, 23.5°N/89.5°E, Balurghat, and 30°N/85°E.
Synoptic Condition
A trough extends from East Uttar Pradesh to northeast Assam, passing through central Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, and Assam, at approximately 0.9 km above mean sea level.
An upper air cyclonic circulation is also observed over east Bihar and nearby areas at around 1.5 km above mean sea level.
Residents in the potentially affected regions are urged to stay alert and take necessary precautions, especially during thunderstorm activity, to ensure safety.
