UditVani, Jamshedpur: Muhammed Uvais and Jordan Murray’s stunning strikes powered Jamshedpur FC to a remarkable 2-1 comeback victory over Bengaluru FC in an electrifying Steel Derby at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Saturday. The Men of Steel extended their dominance at the Furnace, winning seven of their eight home games this season, and climbed to fourth in the table .
Trailing by a goal until the 84th minute, Jamshedpur FC found inspiration through Jordan Murray, whose spectacular overhead kick caught Bengaluru’s goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh off guard, leveling the score in dramatic fashion. The equalizer ignited a flurry of attacks from the home side, and in the 90th minute, a critical error from Gurpreet handed Jamshedpur the lead. Misjudging a high ball, the keeper punched it straight to Muhammed Uvais, who deftly scooped the ball into the top centre of the net to seal the victory.
The first half saw both teams creating multiple opportunities, but it was Bengaluru FC who capitalized first. In the 19th minute, Alberto Noguera pounced on a defensive lapse to slot the ball past Jamshedpur’s defense, giving the visitors an early lead. Jamshedpur had their chances to respond, with Pratik Chaudhari’s powerful shot from a free kick forcing a fine save from Gurpreet. Sourav Das also came close with a volley that narrowly missed the target as the half ended with Bengaluru ahead.
The second half, however, belonged to Jamshedpur FC, who intensified their attacking play and kept Bengaluru pinned in their own half. Despite creating several chances, the equalizer remained elusive until the final moments of the game. Murray’s brilliance and Uvais’s composure ensured a sensational finish that left the home fans in raptures.
With this victory, Jamshedpur FC solidified their position in the top four, trailing Bengaluru by just three points but with a match in hand. Jamshedpur’s next challenge is against Mumbai City FC in an away fixture on January 12.
