UditVani, Jamshedpur: A late-night fire triggered panic in Sankosai under Ulidih police station area after two buses parked on Road No. 1 were completely destroyed in a massive fire.
Residents reported seeing smoke rising from one of the parked buses before flames erupted and spread rapidly to another vehicle nearby.
The fire intensified within minutes, engulfing both buses and reducing them to charred remains.
Initial suspicion points to a possible short circuit as the cause of the incident.
The towering flames and dense smoke disrupted the calm of the neighbourhood, drawing residents out of their homes as they alerted the fire brigade and police.
Firefighters rushed to the spot and battled the blaze for a considerable time before bringing it under control.
However, both buses had already been gutted. The incident also briefly affected traffic movement in the area.
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.
Authorities estimate the damage to be worth several lakhs.
Police have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
