UditVani, Jamshedpur: Tata Steel has announced significant organizational changes within its Safety function, aimed at strengthening leadership, enhancing operational excellence, and reinforcing its long-term safety vision.
The changes, outlined in an internal circular issued by CEO and Managing Director T. V. Narendran, will come into effect from April 15, 2026.
According to the company, the restructuring focuses on optimizing safety governance across key business units and ensuring greater accountability in critical operations.
As part of the reshuffle :
* Vilas Gaikwad, currently Chief Safety, TSM (IL2), has been elevated to Chief Safety, Odisha. In his new role, he will oversee safety governance and operations across TSM, TSK, and Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited, operating out of Meramandali.
* Ravi Shankar Mishra, presently Chief Safety, TSK (Operations), has been appointed Chief Safety, TSJ and Downstream. He will be responsible for safety across Jamshedpur’s long products manufacturing, Tata Steel Gamharia, EAF Ludhiana, and downstream units including Khopoli and Sahibabad. He will continue to be based in Jamshedpur.
* Agam Kumar, currently Chief Safety for LP Tinplate and Metallics Division, has been transferred as Chief Safety, Raw Materials.
He will handle safety operations across iron ore mines, sponge iron plants, coal mining in Jharia and West Bokaro, as well as ferro alloys and minerals businesses, operating from Jamshedpur.
The company emphasized that these leadership changes are designed to further embed a culture of safety excellence across its diverse and geographically spread operations.
Renuka Singh Promoted, Deputed to Tata Steel UISL
In a related development, Renuka Singh has been promoted from IL-4 to IL-3 grade.
Currently deputed to the CEO & MD Office at Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited, she will now be sent on a three-year deputation to the Managing Director’s Office at Tata Steel UISL (formerly JUSCO).
Her new role will be effective from April 15, following the completion of her current deputation.
During this tenure, she will functionally report to the Chief Ethics Counsellor and administratively to the Managing Director of Tata Steel UISL. She will continue to operate from Jamshedpur.
