UditVani, Jamshedpur : Kerala Public School Kadma has announced a landmark national initiative titled “Classrooms to Climate Action Crusaders (CTCAC)”, positioning itself at the forefront of environmental sustainability in education.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Kerala Public School Trust, witnessed participation from 78 schools across India during a national-level award ceremony held in Panchgani. Organised in collaboration with Rotary District 3250, TERRE Policy Centre, and SrishtiZens, the programme marked a significant milestone in promoting student-led climate action.
At a time when climate change poses an urgent global challenge, the initiative emphasizes the transformative role of education in nurturing responsible, future-ready citizens. CTCAC goes beyond traditional awareness programmes by creating a structured, action-driven platform where students actively contribute to sustainability efforts.
Launched in July 2025 and culminating in December 2025, the programme enabled participating schools to implement measurable environmental initiatives within their campuses and communities.
These efforts were systematically documented and evaluated through rigorous jury assessments, ensuring both credibility and excellence. From this nationwide participation, ten schools emerged as finalists, showcasing exceptional innovation and leadership.
The initiative is driven by the vision of Vijayam Kartha, Founder Director of Kerala Public School Trust, whose commitment to value-based education and environmental responsibility has been instrumental in shaping the movement.
Supporting this vision, Director Sharat Chandran highlighted that CTCAC aims to empower students to realize their collective potential in driving meaningful change.
The final award ceremony is scheduled to be held from April 17 to 19 at Asia Plateau, celebrating the outstanding contributions of participating schools.
To encourage excellence, the programme features national awards of Rs 1,00,000, Rs 75,000, Rs 50,000, and Rs 25,000, along with special recognitions for innovative student-led solutions, environmental conservation rooted in Indian traditions, impactful parent-led initiatives, and compelling case studies.
