
UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jamshedpur Women’s University organised an engaging and informative lecture on the National Education Policy 2020 at its Sidhgora campus, bringing together academicians, administrators and students for an in-depth discussion on contemporary educational reforms.
Held at the Swarnarekha Auditorium under the initiative of NEP Saarthies, the programme was conducted under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Dr. Ela Kumar.
The event commenced with an introductory overview of NEP 2020, followed by a ceremonial lamp lighting and felicitation of dignitaries with saplings.
Among those present were Registrar Dr. Salomy Kujur, Proctor Dr. Sudhir Kumar Sahu, keynote speaker Dr. Ramaa Subhranian, and NEP Saarthi Coordinator Dr. Sonali Singh.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Subhranian elaborated on the transformative aspects of NEP 2020, focusing on the National Credit Framework and its role in ensuring academic equivalence, multidisciplinary learning, and flexible entry and exit pathways.
She highlighted the significance of the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC ID), describing it as a secure digital mechanism that enables students to accumulate, store and transfer academic credits seamlessly through platforms such as DigiLocker.
She also outlined the NEP-aligned curriculum framework for the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP), underscoring its emphasis on holistic education, elective choices, internships after the fifth semester, and structured academic progression.
Stressing the importance of academic discipline, she pointed to revised examination norms mandating participation in both internal and external assessments, alongside an updated attendance policy aimed at enhancing student engagement.
The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, followed by a presidential address by Dr. Sahu.
The event drew participation from faculty members including Dr. Deepa Sharan, Dr. Kamini Kumari, Dr. Gloria Purti, Dr. Chhagan Lal Agarwal, Dr. Sweta Prasad, Dr. Keya Banerjee, Dr. Shalini Prasad, Dr. Madhushri Priyadarshini, Dr. Bharti Varshney, Dr. Rizwana Peruban, Anita Shukla, Amrita Kumari, Naresh Kumar Mandal, and Sanchita Guha.
Students from various departments actively engaged in the discussions, reflecting the interdisciplinary spirit of the programme.
