UditVani Jamshedpur : In a shocking incident near Turiabera on the NH-33 stretch under MGM police station area, road construction worker Pratap Singh was allegedly beaten to death by co-workers.
Police have arrested three accused—Jaskaran Singh, Vishal and Arshpreet Singh—based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s nephew. The incident, which occurred nearly three days ago, surfaced only after the situation turned fatal, prompting swift police action.
Pratap Singh, a native of Punjab, had been employed for the NH widening project in Jamshedpur for the past few months, working alongside his relatives and fellow labourers. On Saturday, workers were installing heavy iron plates using a crane. According to site foreman Ranjit Singh Randhawa, he had called the workers earlier to check on their progress and was informed that one plate had been placed and the next was being prepared. He had cautioned them to work carefully.
Minutes later, when he tried calling again, his calls went unanswered. Soon after, he received a callback informing him that Pratap had been assaulted and rushed to MGM Hospital in critical condition. Upon reaching the hospital, Ranjit was informed by the victim’s nephew that Pratap had succumbed to his injuries.
Doctors declared him brought dead.
Pratap’s body is currently kept in the cold storage of the post-mortem facility for the government hospital.
His family is expected to reach Jamshedpur by today, following which the autopsy will be conducted.
Police officials stated that the motive behind the assault is yet to be established. Investigations are underway, with interrogations of the arrested accused and statements being collected from workers present at the site. Technical evidence and eyewitness accounts are being examined to uncover the circumstances that led to the fatal attack.
