UditVani, Jamshedpur: A tragic incident rocked Ranchi on Saturday morning after the bodies of two police bodyguards and a government driver—assigned to the Principal District Judge of Jamshedpur—were recovered from the waters of Dhurwa Dam.
The deceased were identified as policemen Satyendra Kumar and Upendra Kumar Singh, along with government driver Robin Kumar.
The trio had reportedly been missing since late Friday night.
The tragedy came to light around 6 am when local residents noticed a white car submerged near the dam and alerted the police.

Teams from Nagri police station and the International Rescue unit reached the spot swiftly. With the help of divers and heavy machinery, the severely damaged vehicle was pulled out, revealing the bodies of all three occupants inside. Police also recovered two service firearms from the car.
Initial investigation suggests the vehicle may have veered into the dam due to high speed or low visibility during the night.
The dam’s depth likely caused the car to sink rapidly, giving the victims little chance to escape.
However, officers emphasised that all possible scenarios are being examined.
Authorities are also probing the possibility that a fourth person might have been in the car, prompting a continued search operation in the dam.
Divers are scanning the surrounding waters to verify this suspicion.
The bodies have been sent to RIMS for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
Investigators are also trying to establish why the policemen and the driver were in the dam vicinity at that hour—whether on official duty or for personal reasons.
The incident has triggered shock and grief across the police department.
Senior officers are monitoring the investigation closely, and the families of the deceased have been informed.
Police said that definitive answers will emerge after the post-mortem and forensic findings are available.
