UditVani, Deoghar : In a surprising discovery, a Pakistani banknote was found inside the donation box (Danpatra) of the world-famous Baba Baidyanath Temple in Deoghar, Jharkhand. The recovery has prompted local security and intelligence agencies to look into the matter.
The incident came to light on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, during the official counting of the temple’s 18 donation boxes. The counting process was conducted under strict administrative supervision and CCTV surveillance.

Key Highlights of the Discovery:
* The Recovery: Among the heaps of Indian currency, officials found a 100-rupee Pakistani note. This is reportedly the first time such currency has been recovered from the temple’s internal donation boxes.
* Foreign Currency Inflow: Along with the Pakistani note, other foreign denominations were also recovered, including 11 US Dollars, 20 Euros, and 9,280 Nepalese Rupees.
* Total Collection: The total collection from the donation boxes amounted to ₹32,14,245 in Indian currency.
* Security Response: While the temple attracts devotees from across the globe, the recovery of Pakistani currency has led security agencies to verify if it was a routine offering by a foreign devotee or if there are other implications.
The Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Deoghar oversaw the entire counting process to ensure transparency. While authorities believe the note was likely dropped by a visiting pilgrim, they are maintaining a high level of alertness given the sensitive nature of the find.
