UditVani, Jamshedpur : In a significant breakthrough in the high-profile kidnapping case of city-based industrialist Kairav Gandhi, the police have unravelled crucial layers of the crime with the arrest of multiple accused from Bihar’s Aurangabad, Nalanda and Gaya districts.
Among those arrested is a youth from Jamshedpur, whose role is believed to be critical in both the conspiracy and logistical support of the abduction.
According to police sources, the Jharkhand and Bihar police had been jointly tracking the case since the day of the kidnapping.
Acting on technical evidence, mobile location tracking, CCTV footage and specific intelligence inputs, coordinated raids were conducted simultaneously at multiple locations in Bihar, leaving the accused with no chance to escape.
Investigations have revealed that the conspiracy to abduct Kairav Gandhi was hatched in Jamshedpur itself.
The accused had conducted detailed surveillance of the industrialist’s routine, movements and security arrangements before executing the kidnapping from the Kadma–Sonari Link Road area.
To mislead the police, the kidnappers used two separate vehicles—one moving towards Aurangabad and the other towards Gaya and Nalanda—aiming to divert attention and delay pursuit. However, police teams remained suspicious of both vehicles and continued tracking them closely.
Police further disclosed that after the abduction, Kairav Gandhi was kept at a secure location in Bihar. The gang allegedly planned to demand a hefty ransom from his family but failed to do so due to mounting police pressure. As the net tightened, the accused panicked, and on January 27, Kairav Gandhi was rescued unharmed and safely reunited with his family. The entire rescue operation was carried out with utmost secrecy to prevent any alert reaching the kidnappers.
During the raids in Aurangabad, Nalanda and Gaya, the police recovered two pistols, multiple mobile phones, SIM cards and the two cars used in the crime.
All seized items have been sent for forensic examination.
The arrest of a Jamshedpur-based youth has sparked considerable discussion in the city. Police said he had been in contact with the gang for a long time and played a key role by providing inputs on the victim’s daily routine, arranging vehicles, suggesting safe routes and acting as a local link for the kidnappers. Investigators are now probing whether he is part of a larger organised crime network or a first-time offender.
Officials stated that advanced technical surveillance proved to be the strongest weapon in cracking the case.
Continuous monitoring of call records, mobile locations and CCTV footage ensured that the accused could not remain on the run for long.
Police have hinted that more arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.
The swift and coordinated action by Jharkhand and Bihar police has been widely appreciated, as their vigilance and timely intervention prevented the case from escalating further, marking a major success in tackling organised crime.
