UditVani , Jamshedpur: Weather conditions across Jharkhand are poised to deteriorate over the next four days, with forecasts indicating a spell of rain, thunderstorms, and lightning activity across several parts of the state.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the prevailing atmospheric conditions are conducive to the development of convective weather systems, leading to partly cloudy skies accompanied by light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms at isolated locations.
The impact is expected to vary across regions, with southern, south-western, and adjoining central parts likely to witness more pronounced activity.
On April 1, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph are likely to affect isolated pockets, particularly in the southern belt.
The following day may continue to see similar conditions over south-western and central regions, while the weather system is expected to gradually shift towards western parts of the state by April 3 and 4, maintaining the possibility of scattered rain and thundershowers.
Meteorological experts attribute this evolving weather pattern to a trough extending from Bihar to Gangetic West Bengal across Jharkhand at around 1.5 Km above mean sea level.
Moreover, an upper air cyclonic circulation over north Odisha and a wind discontinuity stretching across central and southern India are playing a significant role in enhancing moisture inflow and atmospheric instability over the region.
The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has also issued a short-term forecast warning of thundershower activity in districts such as Dhanbad, Giridih, Jamtara, Deoghar, Sahibganj, and Godda, indicating the likelihood of localized but intense weather episodes.
Recent observations have already recorded thunderstorms, rain, and gusty winds in several areas, including Jamshedpur and its adjoining regions, with isolated incidents of hailstorm reported.
These developments underline the intensifying nature of pre-monsoon weather patterns in the state.
