UditVani, Jamshedpur : A shocking incident has rocked Jamshedpur after a 28-year-old woman died by suicide while streaming live on Facebook, accusing her husband of continuous harassment. The tragedy occurred on Friday afternoon at Farm Area Quarters (No. 16/19) under Kadma police station.
The deceased, identified as Malti Kumari, was alone at home when the incident took place. Her husband was on duty, and their two children were at school. She was rushed to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) by family members but was declared dead on arrival.
According to police, Malti hanged herself from a ceiling fan using a scarf. During the live broadcast, she made serious allegations against her husband Sahdev Yadav, blaming persistent marital disputes and mental harassment for her drastic step.
Married in 2013, Malti was the mother of two children. Her parental home is in Giridih, while her in-laws live in Koderma. The couple resided in Kadma, where Sahdev works as a contractual employee at Tata Steel.
After the incident, Malti’s maternal family rushed to the hospital and accused Sahdev of being responsible for her death. Kadma police have detained him for questioning, using the Facebook Live video as crucial evidence.
The body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem on Saturday. Police have begun a thorough investigation, including forensic examination of the video.
The case has triggered widespread concern over growing domestic conflicts and the disturbing trend of people broadcasting their final moments on social media.
