Udit vani, Jamshedpur: Preparations for Ram Navami celebrations have intensified across the city, with the district administration and police on full alert mode. A comprehensive plan has been put in place to ensure that the festivities, including the grand processions, are conducted smoothly and without any untoward incidents.
Tight Security, Special Focus on Sensitive Areas
Additional police forces will be deployed across the city ahead of and on the day of Ram Navami. Sensitive areas are under close watch to deal with any situation promptly. Security has been strengthened around major temples and mosques, with intensified patrolling during late-night and early morning hours.
The administration is preparing to turn the entire city into a security zone to prevent any anti-social activities. Based on past records, surveillance has been further increased in areas such as Sakchi, Mango, Jugsalai, Musabani, Potka, Sitaramdera, and Golmuri.
A district control room has also been activated to monitor the entire event and address complaints in real time.
Flag March and Continuous Monitoring
To maintain law and order, flag marches will be conducted in several areas including Mango and Kadma. Police surveillance will remain in place from the start of the procession until its conclusion and return. During immersion processions as well, police personnel will accompany the procession until it safely reaches its destination.
Traffic Restrictions: Buses and Autos to Be Regulated
Traffic restrictions will be enforced on March 27 and 28, with heavy and commercial vehicles barred from entering the city.
On March 28, bus services from Bhuinyadih Bus Stand will remain suspended from 1:00 PM to 6:00 AM on March 29. Long-distance buses will operate only from Pardih Chowk and Marine Drive. Buses heading towards Chaibasa and Odisha will operate from near the Railway SP office, close to Tatanagar Railway Station.
Additionally, on Saturday, March 28, movement of autos and three-wheelers will be restricted from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM on key routes. During this period, three-wheelers will not be allowed on routes leading to Sakchi roundabout, Golmuri Chowk, Bengal Club, Old Court More, and Swarnarekha Ghat.
Barricading at 38 Key Points
Barricades and temporary check posts have been set up at 38 strategic locations across the city. Alternative routes have been identified to ensure smooth traffic flow, and no-entry rules will be strictly enforced along procession routes.
Dry Day on March 28
A complete ban on the sale of liquor will be enforced across the city on March 28 to ensure peaceful celebrations.
Enhanced Surveillance with CCTV and Drones
The number of CCTV cameras in the city has been increased from 200 to 340 to strengthen technical surveillance. Additionally, drones and video cameras will be deployed to monitor procession routes and immersion ghats.
Deployment of 1,900 Security Personnel
To further bolster security, a total of 1,900 personnel have been deployed, including 1,300 district police personnel and 600 additional forces. Special units such as RAP and JAP-6 will also be stationed, with provisions for additional reinforcements if required.
Weather Alert Issued Amid Celebrations
Amid the festive preparations, the weather department has issued a ‘yellow alert’ for Jamshedpur, cautioning about possible rain and thunderstorms. Weather changes beginning March 27 are expected to intensify on March 28, which may impact immersion processions.
The temperature is likely to drop to around 35°C, offering some relief from the heat but increasing humidity. There is a 15 percent chance of light rain or thunderstorms during the day. Strong winds, ranging from 40 to 50 km/h, could pose challenges for tall flags and decorative structures. Authorities have advised organizers to maintain safe distance from electric lines and tall trees due to the risk of lightning.
Civic Arrangements and Public Appeal
The administration has appealed to all Akhara committees and organizers to conduct processions peacefully and adhere to prescribed guidelines. Volunteers have been advised to assist in crowd management.
Efforts are being made to ensure adequate civic amenities, including drinking water, electricity, sanitation, healthcare, and emergency services. Ambulances, fire tenders, and other essential resources will be strategically deployed.
Officials stated that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure that Ram Navami celebrations in Jamshedpur are conducted in a safe, orderly, and peaceful manner
