
UditVani, Jamshedpur: As part of the preparations for the 45-Ghatshila (ST) Assembly By-election 2025, the process of home voting for senior citizens aged 85 years and above and voters with at least 40 % disability will begin from Sunday, November 2.
This special arrangement aims to ensure that every eligible voter can exercise their democratic right with convenience and dignity.
The District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum Karn Satyarthi has confirmed that the home voting exercise will be carried out in two phases — from November 2 to 7 and again from November 9 to 10.
During this period, polling teams will visit the homes of identified voters within the Ghatshila Assembly constituency to facilitate voting through postal ballots.
Meanwhile, postal ballot voting for polling personnel, police, home guards, and officials engaged in essential services is already in progress at the facilitation center set up at the Women’s University, Jamshedpur.
Voting began on October 30, and within two days, 117 voters have cast their ballots — 56 on the first day and 61 on the second.
According to information provided by the Postal Ballot Cell, the facilitation center will remain open for government employees, drivers, conductors, and videographers on October 30–31, November 3–4, and November 6–8.
Essential service providers (AVES category) can vote between November 5 and 11, while officers and staff deputed at the Returning Officer’s office in Ghatshila can cast their postal votes from November 8 to 10.
Polling officials emphasized that every measure has been taken to maintain transparency, accessibility, and the sanctity of the electoral process.
The by-election for the Ghatshila assembly seat is scheduled for November 11.
