UditVani, Jamshedpur: The Ghatshila by-election is set to witness a dramatic showdown on October 17, as both the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) plan major rallies for their candidates’ nomination.
JMM’s Somesh Soren, supported by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, will file his nomination at Dahigoda Circus Ground, where a large rally is expected.
The Chief Minister is scheduled to arrive by helicopter around noon to address supporters.
On the same day, BJP candidate Babulal Soren will submit his nomination, accompanied by senior party leaders, signaling the party’s determination to reclaim the seat.
With both parties choosing the same day, authorities anticipate massive crowds and heightened political activity. To maintain law and order, the district administration has deployed additional police forces, set up barricades, and finalized route plans to prevent clashes and manage traffic.
The by-election, triggered by the demise of Ramdas Soren, is being seen as a crucial test of strength for both parties ahead of the upcoming assembly polls.
Development, employment, and tribal identity are expected to dominate the campaign narrative.
“Both parties have been instructed to follow the model code of conduct and ensure peaceful rallies,” said an East Singhbhum district official.
The October 17 nomination day promises a high-voltage political contest, setting the stage for an intense electoral battle in Ghatshila.
