Uditvani, Jamshedpur : Tata Steel has obtained interim relief from the Jharkhand High Court, which has stayed all further proceedings related to a GST demand of Rs 493.35 crore, including penalty and interest.
The demand, raised by the Commissioner of CGST & Central Excise, Jamshedpur, pertains to the alleged disallowance of Input Tax Credit (ITC) for the period from FY 2018–19 to FY 2022–23.
The company has already deposited Rs 514.19 crore in the normal course of business.
Challenging the order dated December 18, 2025, Tata Steel filed a writ petition on March 11, 2026.
The High Court has scheduled the next hearing for April 15
