UditVani, Jamshedpur: Panic gripped the Gopal Maidan area under the Bistupur police station area on Tuesday late evening after a shocking stabbing incident left two youths critically injured.
The victims, identified as Prem and Sandeep, residents of Rupnagar in Sonari, were brutally attacked allegedly by a group of youths from Kadma.
According to preliminary information, Prem and Sandeep had reached the Gopal Maidan area for personal work when a dispute broke out with the assailants.
What began as a verbal altercation quickly escalated into a violent confrontation, during which the attackers allegedly pulled out knives and launched a frenzied assault.
Prem sustained serious injuries to his abdomen and hand, while Sandeep suffered deep stab wounds to his chest and back.
Both collapsed on the road, bleeding profusely, triggering chaos at the spot.
Local residents rushed to help and immediately shifted Prem to Tata Main Hospital (TMH), where he is undergoing treatment.
Due to the severity of his injuries, Sandeep was rushed to MGM Hospital, where doctors are making strenuous efforts to save his life.
The condition of both victims remains critical and under constant medical observation.
On receiving information, Bistupur police reached the scene, inspected the area, and began questioning locals. Officials said CCTV footage from nearby locations is being examined to identify and track down the attackers.
The incident has created an atmosphere of fear in the locality. As a precautionary measure, police patrolling has been intensified in and around the area.
Police authorities have assured that the accused will be identified and arrested soon, and that the matter is being investigated with utmost seriousness.
