
UditVani, Jamshedpur : A harsh cold spell continues to sweep across Jharkhand, with temperatures remaining well below normal in several districts on Friday.
Khunti emerged as the coldest place in the state over the past 24 hours, recording a biting minimum temperature of 2.6°C.
Other regions also witnessed intense cold, with Gumla reporting 2.8°C and Bokaro experiencing a chilly night at 5.1°C, reinforcing cold wave conditions across the state.
In major urban centres, Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 22.0°C and a minimum of 8.2°C, while Jamshedpur saw temperatures ranging between 24.4°C and 8.8°C.
Chaibasa-PTO registered the highest maximum temperature in Jharkhand at 26.8°C.
No rainfall was reported from any part of the state during the last 24 hours. However, visibility dropped to 1,500 metres in Daltonganj, though the IMD did not officially report fog conditions.
According to meteorological officials, cold wave conditions prevailed in areas including Bokaro Thermal, Chaibasa, Gumla, Khunti and Ranchi (Kanke).
Most districts recorded negative departures from normal temperatures, indicating the persistence of the cold spell.
