UditVani, Jamshedpur : Football in Jamshedpur has taken on a truly family-driven spirit as mothers of young footballers step onto the pitch in the Mothers’ League of the Jamshedpur Super League, turning passion, fitness and bonding into a competitive celebration of the game.
The unique league brings together 11 teams, each comprising eight players-all mothers of children enrolled at the Jamshedpur Football School. Teams including Loyola Queens, Loyola Rebona, Tinplate Angle, Tinplate Queen, Armoury Super Moms, Harley Queens and several U-10 Advanced Moms sides highlight the broad and enthusiastic participation from across the football community.
Despite being a first-of-its-kind initiative, the competition has already shown impressive intensity. Loyola Queens, Loyola Rebona and Tinplate Angle have emerged as early frontrunners, each maintaining perfect records after two matches. Harley Queens and Armoury Super Moms have also impressed, adding to the growing excitement around the league.
Designed on a grand scale, the Mothers’ League will see each team play 20 matches, resulting in a total of 110 matches in the division. More than just scores and standings, the league has evolved into a powerful platform for community engagement-promoting fitness, confidence and a stronger emotional connection between parents and the sport their children love.
“Kicking off the Mothers’ League was about involving the entire football family,” said Kundan Chandra, Head of Grassroots and Youth Development at Jamshedpur FC. “When mothers take the field, it sends a powerful message to children that football is for everyone. This initiative has deepened the bond between parents, players and the football school, while encouraging fitness and self-belief among mothers.”
By bringing mothers from the stands onto the pitch, the Jamshedpur Super League has redefined grassroots football -proving that the game transcends age and traditional roles.
The Mothers’ League is not just a tournament; it is a vibrant, inspiring chapter in Jamshedpur’s ever-growing football culture.
