Jamshedpur : Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla, is set to visit Jharkhand on Sunday, May 25 , marking his first official tour of the state since being re-elected for a second consecutive term — a historic feat that breaks a decades-old record held by Balram Jakhar.
Birla will land at Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi at 9:10 am, and shortly thereafter pay floral tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda at Birsa Chowk.
His visit then takes him to Jamshedpur, where he will attend the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 12.15 pm to 2 pm the at Fasy Auditorium of Loyola School.
Following the event, he will return to Ranchi, departing from Sonari Airport at 3.15 pm. In the evening, from 5.45 pm to 7. 40 pm, he will be honored at a citizens’ felicitation ceremony at Swarnabhoomi, Dangartoli, organized by various community groups.
Om Birla’s re-election as Lok Sabha Speaker marks a rare moment in Indian parliamentary history. With this, he becomes the first Speaker in 20 years to be re-elected to the Lower House, surpassing the legacy of Balram Jakhar, who served from 1980 to 1989 — the longest tenure until now.
