UditVani, Jamshedpur: A spell of turbulent weather is set to grip the state today, bringing with it thunderstorms, lightning, hail activity, and strong gusty winds across several regions.
Isolated pockets over the north-eastern and adjoining central parts are likely to bear the brunt, with hailstorms accompanied by intense thunderstorms and winds reaching speeds of 60–70 kmph, raising concerns over potential damage to crops and property.
Other regions, including the western, southern, and central parts, may also experience thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds ranging between 50–60 kmph at isolated places.
The unstable conditions are expected to continue into March 21, though with slightly reduced intensity, as thunderstorms and gusty winds of 40–50 kmph may occur at isolated locations across the state.
The prevailing weather pattern is being influenced by multiple upper air cyclonic circulations—one over central parts of north Madhya Pradesh, another persisting over east Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas, and a third system over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam region.
These systems are collectively fueling atmospheric instability and moisture incursion, triggering widespread thunderstorm activity.
Residents are advised to stay alert, avoid open spaces during lightning strikes, and take necessary precautions as weather conditions may change rapidly through the day.
