UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jharkhand continued to experience a pronounced contrast between rising daytime temperatures and chilly nights, as per the Realised Weather Report issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre, Ranchi.
Day Temperatures Climb Above Normal
Chaibasa emerged as the hottest place in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 32.4 degrees Celsius, nearly five degrees above normal.
Jamshedpur also saw warmer conditions with the mercury touching 30.1 degrees Celsius, while Daltonganj recorded 29.5 degrees Celsius. Ranchi remained relatively mild during the day at 24.6 degrees Celsius, slightly below its seasonal average.
Residents in Ranchi said the weather feels deceptive. “The afternoons are quite pleasant now, but early mornings still remind us that winter hasn’t fully gone,” said Anil Kumar, a resident of Hinoo.
Cold Nights Continue to Linger
Despite the daytime warmth, minimum temperatures remained low across several districts. Gumla recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 6.6 degrees Celsius.
Daltonganj followed at 7.9 degrees Celsius, while Ranchi logged a minimum of 9.4 degrees Celsius. Night temperatures in many parts stayed below normal, keeping the winter chill alive.
In Jamshedpur, the mixed weather has been clearly felt. “By noon it feels almost like summer, but nights and mornings are still cold enough to need a light jacket,” said Rakesh Singh, a shopkeeper in Sakchi.
Dry Spell Persists Across the State
No rainfall was recorded anywhere in Jharkhand during the past 24 hours, according to IMD data.
Automated Weather Stations across districts such as Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Saraikela and Pakur also reported dry conditions. Visibility dipped to 2,000 metres in Jamshedpur during observation hours, though skies largely remained clear.
Outlook for the Coming Days
Meteorological officials indicated that the current pattern of dry weather, warmer afternoons and cool mornings is likely to continue for the next few days.
The steady rise in maximum temperatures suggests a gradual transition towards pre-summer conditions, even as winter chill lingers during night and early morning hours across Jharkhand.
