
UditVani, Jamshedpur : The nomination process for the Municipal Elections 2026 concluded on Wednesday with an enthusiastic response across urban local bodies of East Singhbhum district, setting the stage for a keenly contested civic battle.
For the Mango Municipal Corporation Mayor’s post, a total of 16 candidates have entered the fray.
On the final day of nominations alone, 11 aspirants submitted their nomination papers before the Returning Officer, reflecting intense political activity and public interest in the mayoral race.
The contest is equally vibrant in the Jugsalai Municipal Council, where 10 candidates have filed nominations for the Chairperson’s post.
Of these, four candidates submitted their papers on the last day of nomination.
In the Chakulia Nagar Panchayat, four candidates have filed nominations for the Chairperson’s post, with one nomination being submitted on the final day.
According to the election schedule, scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on February 5, while withdrawal of nominations is scheduled for February 6, 2026.
The final list of contesting candidates will be published thereafter.
With a diverse line-up of candidates and rising political momentum, the municipal elections are expected to witness a spirited campaign in the coming days, as voters prepare to choose their local leadership.
