UditVani, Jamshedpur : In recognition of their outstanding performance at the national level, the Sub-Junior Jharkhand Boys Basketball Team was felicitated with a cash award of Rs 2 lakh by the Basketball Federation of India (BFI).
The award distribution ceremony was held at Kerala Public School, Kadma.
The national championship was recently organised in Dehradun, where the Jharkhand team secured the second position.
The programme was graced by Sharat Chandra as the Chief Guest, noted social worker Mukhtar Alam Khan as the Guest of Honour, Academic Director Lakshmi R, and Kerala Public School, Kadma Principal Sharmila Mukherjee.
The cash prize, sponsored by BFI, was presented to the team for finishing runners-up in the Sub-Junior National Basketball Championship.
The ceremony was organised by the Jharkhand Basketball Association in the presence of its office bearers, including Secretary J. P. Singh, President Harbhajan Singh, Treasurer Pradeep Mukherjee, along with other officials and support staff.
The Sub-Junior Jharkhand Boys team comprised Dhruv Mukherjee, Pradyumn Bairwa, Rishav Raj, Ranjan Murmu (Captain), Sahil Kumar Bodra, Ganesh Karmakar, Ritesh Murmu, Pinnu Kumar, Aman Kumar, Harsh Kumar, Pritam Kumar and Sauryajayan Ghosh.
The team was guided by Chief Coach Mohammad Arif Aftab, Assistant Coach Adarsh Kumar, and Manager Vishal Das.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries congratulated the players and the coaching staff for their remarkable achievement and said that this success reflects a bright future for basketball in Jharkhand.
They also emphasised the need for continued support and improved facilities to promote sports development in the state.
