UditVani, Jamshedpur: Jharkhand is expected to see minor weather fluctuations over the next couple of days, with light rainfall forecast at isolated locations in the north-western parts of the state on January 28.
Most other areas are likely to remain dry. Morning hours may witness shallow fog or mist, giving way to a partly cloudy sky as the day progresses.
On January 29, early-morning fog or mist is expected to linger in some pockets, but no significant weather activity is anticipated thereafter.
Meanwhile, the state continues to experience a spell of pleasant yet unusually warm winter weather.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi, temperatures across most districts have remained above normal, lending afternoons an early-summer feel.
Chaibasa emerged as the warmest location in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 30.4°C—nearly four degrees above the seasonal average. Jamshedpur and Daltonganj followed closely, with daytime temperatures hovering around 29°C. Even the state capital Ranchi reported a relatively mild maximum of 25.9°C.
Night temperatures also stayed higher than usual. Jamshedpur recorded a minimum of 14.8°C, while Ranchi stood at 12.2°C, both significantly above normal.
However, Ranchi AMFU (Kanke) registered the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 9.0°C, offering a brief hint of winter chill during the early hours.
The IMD confirmed that no rainfall was recorded anywhere in Jharkhand over the past 24 hours, and weather conditions remained largely dry and stable. No cold wave or dense fog was observed, ensuring smooth road and air traffic operations. Visibility remained satisfactory across the state, with the lowest visibility of 800 metres reported at Ranchi.
Meteorologists attribute the warmer-than-normal conditions to weak winter systems and the absence of strong northerly winds, allowing temperatures to stay above the seasonal average.
