UditVani, Jamshedpur : The 18th annual edition of ‘SHORTS’ will be held in Jamshedpur on November 29 and 30 at the Centre for Excellence (CFE) Auditorium from 5 pm onwards. The festival began in 2008 as the first event of its kind in Jamshedpur. The festival has consistently screened short films by professional, budding, and student filmmakers. The films have been creative in content and experimental in approach, true to the nature of short films. Many of these films have highlighted socially relevant issues and have been well received by audiences in the Steel City.
Over the last 17 years, several aspiring filmmakers from Jamshedpur and across the State have showcased their work at SHORTS, and many among them are now working as professional filmmakers in different parts of the country. Filmmakers from other regions of India and abroad have also participated regularly, making SHORTS a much-awaited event and the longest running short film festival in Jamshedpur.
SHORTS 2025 will feature twenty-two films screened over two days. The films come from Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Jamshedpur, and include an international entry from France. The films are in English, Hindi, Bengali, along with some silent films. Ranging from 3 to 29 minutes, the entries offer diverse themes and perspectives.
The Society for Promotion of Professional Excellence (Jamshedpur), Tata Steel, and Take 5 Communications (Kolkata), which are behind the initiative, expect the 18th edition to receive a strong response from film enthusiasts, continuing the festival’s tradition of audience appreciation.
