UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jharkhand is set to experience another spell of unsettled weather, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of up to 40 kmph between September 24 and 27.
According to the bulletin, south-western parts of the state may witness heavy downpours on September 24, heightening the risk of waterlogging and disruption in low-lying areas.
The monsoon’s withdrawal line currently runs through parts of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and coastal Saurashtra. However, over the Bay of Bengal, weather activity is intensifying again.
A low-pressure area, which developed over the north-west Bay of Bengal earlier this week, was centered on September 23 morning over coastal Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha. This system is accompanied by a cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level, and though it is likely to weaken within 24 hours, another development looms close behind.
Meteorologists say a fresh low-pressure system is expected to form over the northwest and adjoining central Bay of Bengal around September 25. Projections suggest it may intensify into a depression near the South Odisha–North Andhra Pradesh coasts by September 26 before making landfall a day later.
Met officials have urged residents to stay prepared for intense thundershowers, temporary flooding, and strong winds, especially in districts prone to heavy rainfall.
