UditVani, Jamshedpur : As Jharkhand dives into the heart of Durga Puja celebrations, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a festive weather alert predicting spells of rain and thunderstorms over the next few days. The changing weather pattern could add a breezy twist to the celebrations while also demanding a bit of caution from revellers.
Festive Weather Outlook
September 30 (Mahashtami):
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are likely at isolated places across the state. Light to moderate rainfall may occur in pockets, adding to the festive atmosphere.
October 1 (Mahanavami):
Similar weather conditions are expected to continue. Localized heavy rainfall is likely over the north-eastern and adjoining central parts of Jharkhand, which could temporarily affect outdoor activities and pandal visits.
October 2 (Dussehra):
Thunderstorm activity with gusty winds is likely at isolated locations. Heavy rainfall may occur in north-eastern and north-central parts of the state, potentially influencing Dussehra processions and open-air celebrations.
October 3–4:
The wet spell is expected to persist with scattered heavy rainfall and isolated thunderstorms in several parts of Jharkhand.
Synoptic Situation
Although no major synoptic system currently prevails over Jharkhand, an upper-air cyclonic circulation lies over north coastal Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, a new cyclonic circulation is expected to develop over the north Andaman Sea on September 30, which may lead to the formation of a low-pressure area over the north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal by October 1. This system is likely to enhance rainfall activity in Jharkhand during the festive period.
Advisory for Devotees
While mild showers can add a refreshing touch to the festive vibe, the IMD has advised devotees and visitors to stay updated on weather alerts.
Umbrellas and raincoats are recommended during pandal-hopping and processions. Extra caution is urged during outdoor rituals, as gusty winds may pose occasional safety concerns.
Celebrate responsibly and enjoy the festivities — a little rain can’t dampen the spirit of Mahashtami, Mahanavami and Dussehra in Jharkhand.
