UditVani, Jamshedpur : Security has been tightened across Jharkhand as police and paramilitary forces prepare to counter any extremist activity during the CPI (Maoist) outfit’s “Resistance Week” from October 8 to 14, followed by its Foundation Day on October 15.
Law enforcement agencies are on maximum alert to prevent potential violence, disruptions, or propaganda attempts during this period.
According to officials, district police units, special task forces, and paramilitary contingents have been directed to maintain heightened vigilance, especially in Maoist-affected regions.
Intensive combing operations, area domination drives, and drone-assisted surveillance are being deployed to ensure a robust security grid.
IG (Operations) Michaelraj S said that the state police are fully geared up to handle any situation.
“All security arrangements have been strengthened. Joint teams of state police and central forces will conduct proactive operations to ensure peace and public safety,” he asserted.
Historically, Maoist groups have used “Resistance Week” to protest state policies and security operations—often calling for shutdowns (bandhs) and attempting violent or propaganda-based actions.
The police have appealed to citizens to stay vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities.
Additional forces have been deployed in sensitive districts including Latehar, Gumla, Chatra, Lohardaga, West Singhbhum, and Palamu, where Maoist activity has been reported in the past.
Key government installations, railway tracks, and highways are under tight security cover.
To prevent extremist movement, Jharkhand police have also intensified coordination with Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Odisha, strengthening inter-state intelligence sharing and border patrolling.
Night patrols, security checkpoints, and infrastructure protection measures have been reinforced as part of the preventive strategy.
Police authorities have urged the public to remain calm.
“There is no need to panic. We are taking every possible step to maintain law and order. Public safety is our top priority,” the IG added.
The upcoming week will be crucial for security agencies striving to maintain peace and stability while ensuring Maoist elements do not disrupt daily life during the Resistance Week and Foundation Day observances.
