Ranchi : In a significant step toward strengthening child welfare initiatives in Jharkhand, UNICEF India Representative Cynthia McCaffrey met Chief Minister Hemant Soren today to discuss collaborative efforts for the holistic development of children in the state.
During the meeting, McCaffrey highlighted UNICEF’s ongoing programs in Jharkhand that focus on ensuring children’s rights to health, education, protection, and nutrition. She emphasized the need for a multi-sectoral approach to tackle challenges such as malnutrition, school dropouts, child marriage, and lack of access to essential healthcare services.
The Chief Minister expressed his appreciation for UNICEF’s consistent support and reiterated his government’s commitment to prioritizing children’s welfare in policy and planning.
He acknowledged the importance of collective action in creating an enabling environment where every child in Jharkhand can grow up healthy, educated, and safe.
Both parties discussed scaling up successful models and exploring new areas of collaboration, particularly in tribal and remote regions.
The meeting ended with a shared vision of making Jharkhand a model state for child rights and development.
