UditVani, Jamshedpur: The much-awaited 34th Annual Flower Show commenced at the picturesque Gopal Maidan, Bistupur, this afternoon, alongside the 41st All India Rose Convention. Organized by the Horticulture Society of Jamshedpur in collaboration with Tata Steel and Tata Steel UISL, the event promises a vibrant celebration of nature, horticulture, and artistry.

Inauguration and Event Highlights

Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President (Corporate Services), inaugurated the four-day flower show. This year, the theme, “Charo Taraf Gul Aur Gulab Hai, Jamshedpur Mein Aai Bahar Hai”, captures the spirit of spring and floral artistry. The event features rare blooms, prize-winning roses, and interactive workshops conducted by experts.

Special Focus: Roses and Ratan Tata Tribute

The show’s highlight is the rose convention, where a new rose specimen will be released in memory of former Tata Group Chairman, Ratan Tata. This commemorative rose will later be planted in the newly inaugurated rose garden near Sacred Heart Convent School.

Timings and Accessibility

The event is open daily from 9 am to 9 pm with an entry fee of Rs. 10, making it accessible to all nature enthusiasts.

Competitions and Cultural Events

Visitors can enjoy competitions for best flowers, arrangements, and floral art, as well as:

1. Sit-and-draw competition for schoolchildren (December 30).
2. Mobile photography competition.
3. Cultural performances on the evenings of December 29 and 30.

Prize Distribution and Technical Sessions

The prize distribution ceremony will take place on December 30 at 2:30 pm, graced by Tata Steel MD T.V. Narendran as the chief guest and Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal as the special guest. Technical sessions of the rose convention will be held at Tulsi Bhawan, with the rose exhibition at Gopal Maidan.

Spectacular Displays and Workshops

Over 3,000 roses will be on display, with attendees having the opportunity to participate in workshops led by renowned horticulturists. Delegates from Pune, Nagpur, Delhi, Ranchi, and beyond will add to the event’s charm. Around 30 nurseries and 16 octogen hangars will cater to gardening enthusiasts, while 10 food stalls will provide refreshments.
