UditVani, Jamshedpur: The Tagore Society, Jamshedpur, has announced an elaborate three-day programme to commemorate the 165th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, bringing together literature, music, dance, and theatrical performances in a grand tribute to the Bard.
The celebrations will be held on May 9, 10, and 11 at Rabindra Bhavan and associated venues, featuring participation from students, teachers, and members of the Tagore Society and its cultural institutions.
Programme Highlights:
May 9 (Saturday) will begin early morning with assembly at Rabindra Bhavan at 5:15 a.m., followed by Baitalik (Prabhat Pheri) at 5:30 a.m.
The President of the Tagore Society will present a homage poem at 6:35 a.m., followed by floral tributes at 6:40 a.m. Cultural performances by students of Tagore School of Arts and Tagore Academy will commence at 6:45 a.m., concluding with distribution of sweets.
The evening session will showcase a series of Nritya Geeti Alekhya (dance-based musical narratives), including:
“Sokal Kajer Kaj” by the Cable & Baridih branch
“Shanti Karo Barishono” by the Kadma branch
“Tomay Amay Milan Hole” by the Parsudih branch
“Ami Nari, Ami Mohiyoshi” by the Telco branch
“Bani Ek, Sur-Chhondo Anek” by Rabindra Bhavan Adult Section
May 10 (Sunday) will feature an evening cultural lineup starting at 6:30 p.m., including:
Opening dance on “Nrityero Tale Tale”
Group dance and recitation: “Aaha Tomar Sange Praner Khela”
Bengali play: “Chhuti”
Dance drama: “Balmiki Pratibha”
May 11 (Monday) will conclude the celebrations with:
“Shramik Rabindranath” (Nritya Sahajog Geeti) by junior section students
“Jiban-Chokre Rabindranath” by the senior branch
Rabindra Rachana “Pratibad”, featuring Tinti Natok (three plays): Bisaran, Shasti, and Joggeswarer Joggo, performed by Rabindra Bhavan and Tagore School of Arts members.
The programme reflects a rich blend of Tagore’s literary genius and artistic legacy, reaffirming his enduring influence on Indian culture.
The Tagore Society has extended an open invitation to citizens to attend the celebrations with family and friends.
Ashis Chowdhury, General Secretary of the Tagore Society, will oversee the programmes, ensuring a vibrant and meaningful tribute to the legendary poet-philosopher.
