UditVani, Jamshedpur: Addressing a long-standing challenge faced by traders, the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( SCCI) has intensified its coin distribution campaign to ensure smoother day-to-day transactions in the marketplace.
On Monday, coins worth Rs 3 lakh in Rs 2 denominations were distributed among Chamber members, sourced with the support of the Bank of India, Bistupur branch.
The initiative aims to ease the burden on small traders who frequently struggle with the shortage of coins during routine business operations.
Chamber President Manav Kedia underscored the importance of the drive, stating that the lack of small change has been disrupting daily trade. “We are taking this issue seriously and working in coordination with banks to provide a practical solution so that business activities continue seamlessly,” he said.
Vice-President (PRW) Abhishek Agarwal highlighted the wider impact of the initiative, noting that improved access to coins enhances transactional efficiency and supports small-scale livelihoods.
He added that the Chamber has already distributed coins worth nearly Rs 40 lakh under the ongoing campaign.
Secretary (Trade & Commerce) Bharat Makani said the Chamber plans to further expand the initiative with the help of various banks to ensure a more permanent solution. “We will continue to scale up the campaign based on members’ needs so that the issue of coin shortage is effectively addressed,” he remarked.
Central Bank of India official Amit Kumar De also spoke on the occasion. Several office-bearers and committee members of the Chamber remained actively involved in the campaign, reinforcing their commitment to supporting the trading community and strengthening the local market system.
