UditVani, Jamshedpur: Albino Gomes credited the passionate home supporters for giving the team the extra push they needed as Jamshedpur FC secured a hard-fought victory over Inter Kashi despite playing most of the match with ten men at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.
The Men of Steel were reduced to ten players early in the match but showed tremendous resilience and discipline to hold on for the win.
Albino, who made a series of crucial saves during the contest, said the team knew they had to raise their concentration levels after the red card.
“We were down to ten men for almost 75 minutes and we knew we had to be more focused and give everything till the last minute. The whole team did it really well,” he said.
Communication between the goalkeeper and the defensive line proved vital as Inter Kashi pushed forward in search of an equaliser. Albino emphasised that constant coordination among the players helped maintain their defensive structure under pressure.
“We were all communicating very well and that helped us stay focused throughout the game,” he said.
The visitors came agonisingly close to scoring late in the match when a header struck the woodwork, but Jamshedpur survived the scare to preserve their lead.
“It was a really good cross and a header, so for a moment we were all just still. I was thankful to God that it didn’t go inside the goal,” Albino added.
The victory marked Jamshedpur FC’s fourth consecutive win of the season, continuing their impressive start to the campaign.
“It has been a great start for us and we need to continue the same form going into the next match. We have to be even stronger for the upcoming games,” he said.
Albino reserved special praise for the supporters at the Furnace, saying the atmosphere created by the fans played a crucial role in motivating the players during a difficult match.
“The Furnace is a special place for us. The home fans always give us an extra push to give our best on the pitch, and that keeps us motivated throughout the game,” he added.
